Michael Slawter - Owner

Born and raised in Winston-Salem, Michael became obsessed with the guitar around the age of 14. He quickly started writing songs and joined a band with months. Michael played in multiple bands all through high school and college. In 1999 he began releasing records under his own name and continues to do so to this day.

His love of buying and selling old guitars came not long after when he first discovered an old Silvertone electric that a school friend was selling. He would wake up some Saturdays and load up his car and drive from King to Burlington and hit every guitar shop in between and trade and swap instruments. He never kept things for longer than a few weeks. Fast forward to 2008 and the beginning of the recession. With a $500 loan from his older brother Michael starting swapping guitars on Craigslist. This quickly took off and the living room he shared with his wife and kids became the showroom. After a few years it became too much and Michael was oblidged to find a retail space. In December of 2014 Heyday Guitars was born. Michael brings a wealth of knowledge about vintage instruments that he has accumulated over many years.
